Landscape Resources

There are numerous trees and shrubs with fantastic fall color.   Consider each of these examples for your landscape project.   Fall color adds another attractive dimension which can complement a planting pallette.  Here is a wonderful shrub that might be considered.  Virginia Sweetspire (Itea virginica ‘Henry’s Garnet’.  This shrub grows to a height of three to four feet and six feet wide and likes full sun to partial shade.

Here is a larger shrub that also has red fall color.  The Chokeberry, grows to eight feet with a spread of three to four feet.   ‘Aronia arbutifolia’ (scientific name) likes wet conditions and can be grown as a hedge or naturally.

The Sourwood tree (Oxydendrum arboreum) is a native understory tree tht typically grows 20-25’ tall with a straight, slender trunk and narrow oblong crown.  Even though not a fan of pollution the flower color is outstanding with brilliant red color and white panicled flowers from June to July.
